Day One:
I got up at 3:00 AM to get ready to leave for the airport. Dancer picked me up at 4:30 and we arrived at the airport 45 minutes later. When everyone showed up, we started to check our luggage, that was about 5:00.

When we landed in Colorado, it was 10:35, so we went to the food court for breakfast/lunch.
At 11:00 we boarded the plane to Washington DC. Which lasted four hours. When we landed at 5:00 PM local time, we immediately collected our bags, changed into shorts, and boarded the bus.
The second we walked out of the airport, we got blasted with humid, hot, and heavy air. Definitely hard to breathe in.
We met our tour guide, Doc, by his bus; he was definitely an interesting man. He was a stereotypical Black man, he over enunciated certain words or syllables, beyond any doubt: funny. He pronounced Idaho, Ida-HO! and instead of explain, it was 'splain. He called us 'Beautiful people,' 'Young people,' and 'Lovely people.' He also liked to talk. Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk.

At the MLK Jr Memorial, there was a huge statue of him. (It looked like he was encased in carbonite). On one side of the statue it said, "Out of a mountain of despair, a stone of hope."
Then we went to the Korean War Memorial where we saw statues of, what I remember, are 49 soldiers. The Lincoln Memorial, around the top of the building were the names of all the US states and territories. The statue of Lincoln is 19 ft tall!Next we went to the Vietnam War Memorial, where they engraved every single person's name that died on a marble wall; what a sight.

By then, it was about 11:00, we were all tired and sticky. It had been a long day. We drove to the hotel, showered, and went to bed.
